THE three-day heavy downpour which resulted in
flood in Akure, the Ondo state capital have
claimed the lives of two Primary School pupils.
Police in the state said that the two boys Adebori
Timilehin (5) and Olugbenga Martins(6) are
cousins and were returning from school when
the flood swept them away and were drowned.
Their bodies were discovered by men of the State

inside the Elegbin river.
Findings showed that they reside with their
Grandmother at No 14 Familusi street, Akure.
This is coming on the heels of Save Our Soul

Department of the presidency over the menace of
flood across the state.
Environment Commissioner Sola Ebiseni during
an inspection of the havoc wrecked by the rainfall
in Ondo town said government had at various
times made representations to the ecological
funds department of the presidency over the
funding of its environmental related projects.
Meanwhile, the Police Image Maker Wole Ogodo
said that the proprietress of Newlife Academy,
Idanre road, Akure Mrs Bola Olufemi reported
that two pupils of her school have been swept
away by the flood. It was discovered that the
pupils were rushing home because of the rain
only to be swept away by the flood occasioned by
the heavy downpour.
However the Police Image Maker said detectives
are investigating the incident to know if the death
of the pupils was as a result of the negligence of
the school authorities.
